Accepting the CHALLENGE:

When we started LIFT4LIFE, the team knew that it would not be an easy endeavor. Bringing a sport that no one knows about to a country so many miles away from our home base is difficult, not to mention the work it took us to just get up and running. It required countless hours of work in order to establish a non-profit, and secure funds/resources to equip and train athletes in a community on the other side of the world. All of this had to happen prior to even trying to grow the sport or have the ability to host powerlifting meets.  Well this week, LIFT4LIFE gained a partnership that will help to make all of this a reality so much faster.

With this we are pleased and excited to announce Challenge Barbell as our next LIFT4LIFE partner. We have been speaking with the company since late November about helping to provide training equipment for our first facility at a community center in Harare, Zimbabwe. This week they contacted us to let us know they will be donating and shipping a 285kg plate set for us to use in our first facility to help us in our endeavor to spread the sport around the world. A 285kg set will also include one of their high quality steel bars. With this partnership and their donation our first facility has given us essential equipment to get up and running. We are again so thankful for this partnership with Challenge Barbell.

With this equipment we have half of what we need to start. Next week Ben Kawadza, our contact we work with from All Out Sports, and our first coach, Joel Nyawaranda, will be meeting with local welders in Harare to discuss building the gym equipment we need and to discuss costs. Hopefully if all goes well we will update you again next week with another blog and specific details on what we need to continue to raise to make this first facility a reality.
