Lift4Life Ladies Only Gym - Equipment Donation

This past weekend, Lift4Life donated a set of powerlifting equipment to the community of Mabvuku in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The community identified the need to make the sport and lifting more accessible for all - in particular women. This gym was therefore set up as a Female Only gym to help build lady lifters up and provide a safe and comfortable space in which they could lift within.

On Saturday, September 30th, equipment was delivered, community members invited, and everyone was welcomed to try out the squat, bench and deadlift. So many strong smiles radiated in the room from women excited and empowered by the sport.

“Now I can lift every day confidently!” stated a female lifter in attendance at the grand opening.

Audrey, a local female Zimbabwe lifter and now coach from the community of Glen Norah, was present at the opening to pave the way and inspire other women with her own lifting and experience attending Commonwealth Championships in South Africa. There is plans of female collaborations and workshops in the future between communities to ensure the equipment is put to good use, and that the women are provided with many opportunities for involvement within the sport. Already there is talks to host a powerlifting meet!

We would like to thank everyone for their continuous support and donations that make life changing initiatives like this possible. A little can go a long way, and we look forward to equipping more communities that need the sport the most.
